Introduction to Electronics

NOTE: THIS COURSE IS NOW FULL. A waiting list will be created for anyone else who wants to join.

This is a beginners class. No formal knowledge of Electronics is necessary. But that also means we will not dwell on the Mathematics of it. There might be some hands on based on who turns out and the direction the class wants to go in.

Goal; to get a group of like minded individuals up to speed on basic Electronics ability

Long Term Goal; to have a course where people can “Breadboard” various projects and build electronics things for fun.

Supporting Readings;

Required; Principles of Electronics, by Colin D. Simpson, Prentice Hall, ISBN 0-9686860-0-1

(this is the course content for the Electronics CD-Rom course at George Brown. It’s a good first course for college level electronics)

Other Reading; Microelectronic Circuits, Sedra/Smith, Oxford University Press, ISBN 0-19-510370-X (this is the third year/fourth year microelectronics text for U of T)

Art of Electronics, Horowitz/Hill, Cambridge University Press, ISBN 0-521-37095-7 (this book evolved from a one semester course in “laboratory Electronics” at Harvard for Physics Students)

Classes will be photocopies of the original text book. Attempt to do 1 to 1 ½ chapters a week..
