Emily's class proposal:
- idea for September 2004 term: a Photoshop workshop (or other graphic design software)
- laptops required, or access to computer lab
- participatns may be partnered 2 per computer
- we observed that this is the first 'workshop' class being proposed, and discussed whether this fit the anarchistU - we will need a discussion about this -how is a workshop taught in a npon-authoritative way?
- workshop is intended to empower people with a new communication skill - there is still the elitism issue of access to technology
- this is intended to provide access to skills which otherwise are very expensive to learn
- Dwayne mentioned that he may have access to a computer lab with 25 computers at a youth shelter
promotion:
- Luis will make new flier with course schedule by Friday - will leave these at Manning mailbox for people to pick up and distribute
- Chris will talk to CKLN about the possibility of doing a radio spot - process needs lots of lead-time (which may be too late for promo before classes start) - and requires reciprocal promotion
- Sam will talk to CIUT this week
- Luis will send out an email, and will talk to Teaching Ourselves on CIUT for a radio spot
- Yehuda will post flier on Indymedia website - Luis will post flier in PDF format on AnarchistU website

- Chris will print out our email list abd deopsit it in our archive (in case the electronic version disappears in cyberspace!)
website:
- Sam will reformat the website so that new course schedule appears first when people open it, will move stuff around to make it more current and easier ot navigate
party:
- we will move the party from Manning to Yehuda's parents; house at 50 ellsworth Avenue (south of St.Clair / west of Bathurst)

- Alan will ask Raw-Brt to see if he'll DJ - Sam and Luis also interested in Djing
summer:
- we may want to organize a weekend retreat event at Kimbercote Farm in the summer, maybe with Intro to Anarchy, Consensus-Building workshops
- we may run a couple of classes in summer, but for the most part we will take a rest from AnarchistU activities
avoiding hierarchy:
- Luis observed that he's become a bit of a spokesperson for the collective in the media - is that a problem?
- people felt that is not a problem, and observed that others are also speaking to the media
- we observed that it's mostly the facilitators that attend the general meetings - why are the other participants not attending?
- it was suggested that we post the agenda in email announcements to the meetings, to allow for an entry point for people not attending - it was oserved that we don't want to have an 'executive committe' situation that sets the agenda in advance, but that the agenda is put together at the meetings themselves
- we do post an abbreviated agenda in our emails - we also post our minutes in the website
- facilitators are entrusted with conveying to other participants how the anarchistU is organized, especially the role of the general meetings, and encouraging attendance - facilitators are also entrusted with passing participants' email addresses to the email administrator so that we have a full list and we don't lose anyone!
next meeting:
Sunday January 18th, 3pm at 196 Manning.
