Minutes From 2008 April 27

Carpentry class accepted

Craig proposed a carpentry class to start in May. It was accepted.

After the first class, people will be expected to bring their own tools. For people who don't own tools, Craig will offer ideas how to get cheap ones. The possibility of buying tools with AnarchistU's finances for people who couldn't even afford cheap ones was discussed as a possibility.

It hasn't been completely decided where the class will take place. Some possibilities are Bike Pirates and CBN (Canadian Bicycle Network). Craig will look into some other possibilites--if people think of ideas they can contact craig (craig@anarchistu.org) or the general mailing list.

Back-up announcement person

It was pointed out that no email had been sent out for this general meeting. It was decided that in cases such as this meeting, where the email-person gets behind, the site administrator could act as a backup email-person for sending out reminders and announcements.

Need for another space for May's meeting

Rob mentioned that the 519 community centre would not be available. We discussed looking into different options starting with Global Aware in Kensington Market.

An AnarchistU history

Rob announced that he's working on a history of the AnarchistU. Rather than make it a "definitive account"--which he believes can't be done--he's trying to give an eclectic history based on different people's memories and views of the school's evolution. Others who want to get involved are free to contact him with their ideas.
