Anarchist Free University
Minutes for meeting 10/24/09 (5:30-7:00)
Present at meeting/potluck:
-Angel
-Dave
-Chad
-Petra
-held at 888 Dupont (Petra’s loft)
Agenda:
No real agenda was followed during our meeting because the ‘potluck/meeting’ never really took place! The original plan was to introduce new comers to what AFU is all about. To answer any questions for those interesting in both teaching and taking courses
The discussion covered the following:
-Hacklab is confirmed as a teaching space and Angel is (as we speak!) now teaching there now on Wednesdays btwn 6-8. Everyone interested is welcome!
-Hacklab has no phone so write
discussion@hacklab.to with any questions thoughts or concerns about the work they do and classes/workshops they offer.
BTW –The Hacklab Collective is the proud owner of a 3D ‘MakerBot’ Robot that ‘prints’ 3D! It’s an open source printer that constructs things out of ABS plastic!!

-We discussed the idea of getting a projector so we could start showing films at 888 Dupont Space. Angel offered to bring his over once his series shown in Kensington Sunday nights ends at the end of November.
-The idea came up that we could be holding some kind of fundraiser specifically for the purpose of getting a new/other projector. Chad offered to look into which kinds were best to consider for the best price because some folks at Hacklab were already doing the research on this.
-Dave shared that Sketch will be moving locations within the next 2 years. We were wondering if AFU could get Sketch more involved in future class presentation/attendance etc?
-Christian’s WONDERFUL posters with the Russian Constructionist A flare
were distributed allover downtown last month in different formats
-Possum and I met to see the LIFT space together. Took some pictures-big enough to hold a class there, has a chalkboard.
-Possum gave Petra another $100 towards space renovation.
-Briefly discussed why no one showed up for the pot luck and came to likely conclusion that we didn’t send out email early enough letting people especially new people know about it. The voice message was not updated with the info if anyone did call in inquiring. I did get a number of RSVPs saying people were coming
-Petra is in touch with someone (Dru) who is interested in teaching yoga here at 888 in the future.
-The AFU has a full page AD in the latest issue of the Molotov Rag, which came out end of October with a launch party at the Toronto Free Gallery on Halloween Night!
