In attendance: Mike, Possum, Corey, Petra, Maggie, Jason

1. Class Proposals

There were two class proposals. The group had a few suggestions for, but were favourable toward both classes.

Environmental Ethics

Corey proposed doing a class on environmental ethics. The class will look at environmental writings by various modern philosophers, including topics such as ethics, deep ecology, eco-feminism. The suggestion to have the class

Group Facilitation

Possum proposed an experimental class which would study facilitation in a hands-on way by having people introduce projects they're working on. Some suggestions included having people update the group on their projects, and having the group examine anti-oppression practices along with other theories of facilitation.

2. Outreach and Event Plan

• we should form connections with other groups esp. social justice

• reach out to strong groups that have followers

• perhaps organize an event with them not about free schools specifically

• maybe see how by partnering with them we can help them meet their goals (e.g. partner with Food Not Bombs and help put on classes that educate about the issues affecting their group)

• Toronto Women's Bookstore a possible ally

• Maggie suggests "alternative education" workshops with us and other groups in the city: Toronto Women's Bookstore, No One is Illegal, others

• topics: challenge of community organizing, internal structural challenges, role of alternative education

• perhaps also make links to community arts organizations

• Petra: topic suggestion for talk is to invite alternative bookstores to present on the challenges they face

• Petra suggests we have some sort of presentation at the Toronto Anarchist Assembly on Saturday April 10 and Sunday the 11th from 11-3pm: torontoanarchistassembly@gmail.com

• group wonders if Possum or Rob T. would run a talk on the history of the AFU or about facilitation/consensus decision making

• next steps: need a consensus on what sort of event we want to hold

• Petra: have our event later but should plan to be involved in the Peoples' Summit before the G20 meeting

• Petra will contact Anarchist Assembly
